Chocks is run by Chocks Aviation Ltd, the data controller. We are a company registered in England and Wales, number 17418657, with our registered office at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom. The short version: Chocks collects what it needs to run a flying record system and nothing more. There is no advertising, no analytics, no tracking, and your data is never sold or shared for marketing.
To provide the service you signed up for (contract): keeping flying and aircraft records, sending sign-in codes, and showing a group its shared record. Security measures such as rate limiting rest on our legitimate interest in protecting the service.
These providers process data on our instructions, or in Apple's and Stripe's case to take a payment. Some are based in the United States and may process data there, under the safeguards UK data protection law requires for international transfers. No one else receives your personal data, and none of it is used for advertising.
An aircraft's records are designed to be permanent and append-only. Like the paper books they replace, corrections are added rather than history rewritten, and a group's shared record needs to stay whole for everyone in it.
Your personal record is kept for one year after you stop. If your subscription ends and you are no longer flying any aircraft on Chocks, we keep your logbook, licence and medical details for 365 days. We will email you before that year is up. After it, your name and email are removed from Chocks and your licence, medical and personal goals are deleted. You can take a copy of your logbook at any point before then, and starting a plan again at any time keeps everything.
Flights you made in a group's aircraft stay in that group's technical log afterwards, because they are that group's own legal record as much as yours, but they no longer carry your name. Neither you nor your group can erase the other's record by leaving.
Account details are kept while your account exists. Sign-in codes and expired sessions are deleted automatically.
You can ask for a copy of your data (the app can also export your records as CSV), ask us to correct something, or ask us to delete your personal data. Note that entries forming part of a group's shared aircraft record may need to be retained for the group's own record-keeping, in which case we remove or replace your identifying details where we reasonably can. Email admin@chocks.uk and we'll respond within a month. If you're unhappy, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
One strictly necessary cookie keeps you signed in. There are no advertising or analytics cookies, which is why there is no cookie banner.
If this policy changes materially we'll say so on this page, with the date above updated.
